The Professional Standards for BC Educators are in place to ensure a safe and educational learning environment for everyone. Teachers have great responsibility to their students, their school, their district, and their communities. The standards are written with a growth mindset which reflects the growth mindset of the BC curriculum. Not only do teachers help students grow, but they also continue their own growth and learning through professional development opportunities as well as everyday life. Teachers are called on to act in a professional manner both inside and outside the school. They are given the privilege of teaching children in the community, and therefore, a teacher’s reputation is crucial to their profession.
